About the event
Join members of Congregation Kol Shalom, along with other congregations and concerned community members, for a special screening of October 8. This powerful documentary sheds light on the alarming rise in antisemitism across the United States in the wake of the October 7, 2023, Hamas attacks. The screening will be followed by a moderated discussion focused on how we—as individuals and as a community—can take meaningful local action in response.
This event was organized by Kol Shalom members, with Congregation Kol Shalom and American Jewish Committee Seattle (AJC) co-sponsorship to help us pursue a shared goal: to raise awareness about the explosion of antisemitism in the U.S. since October 7, 2023.
About the Film:
This statement from the filmmakers explains the documentary: "OCTOBER 8 offers a look at the explosion of antisemitism on college campuses, social media and in the streets of America beginning the day after the October 7th attack on Israel by Hamas. Through meticulous investigation, the film also uncovers how over decades, Hamas created sophisticated networks in America to permeate U.S. institutions and examines the tsunami of online antisemitism, propaganda, and disinformation unleashed by Iran, China and Russia – with the sole purpose of dividing American society."
