Religious Education
Congregation Kol Shalom offers Judaic and Hebrew education for all of our members of any age.

Our Religious School has weekly classes for children from pre-school age through third grade and twice weekly classes for students fourth grade through B'nai Mitzvah. Our program is based on study of Torah and prayer, and through the celebrations of the Jewish year. Our dream is that our children will grow to become joyful, committed and literate Jews, embracing and embraced by their community.
We have wonderful programs for adults as well, from classes on philosophy and literature taught by our Rabbi, Mark Glickman, to beginning Hebrew and Siddur taught by Cantorial Soloist Emily Katcher. We offer the Introduction to Judaism program for anyone, Jew or non-Jew, interested in learning more about Judaism. We hope that our adult congregants too, will experience the joy of Jewish learning and feel comfortable partcipating in the life of the synagogue.

Emily Katcher is the Director of Education and Cantorial Soloist at Congregation Kol Shalom. She received her degree in Religious Studies/Near Eastern Religions from California State University Long Beach, and has taught Hebrew and Judaic Studies to adults and children alike for seven years, and  has been leading Jewish music for eight years in California and Washington.
