Rabbi Mark S. Glickman has served as rabbi of Congregation Kol Shalom on Bainbridge Island, WA for over 2 years. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio and raised in suburban Chicago, Rabbi Glickman graduated cum laude from Washington University in St. Louis in 1985. He received his Rabbinical Ordination from Hebrew Union College - Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati in 1990. After serving as the Union of American Hebrew Congregations' Director of Youth Leadership for one year, Rabbi Glickman became the Assistant Rabbi of Temple Israel in Dayton, Ohio. Later promoted to Associate Rabbi, Rabbi Glickman served in Dayton for six years. Rabbi Glickman is affiliated with a variety of community and civic organizations, and has written and spoken on many topics concerning Judaism and modern life. His column on "Faith and Values" appears in the Seattle Times every five weeks.
On January 1, 2000, the Tacoma News Tribune named Rabbi Glickman one of the "20 People to Watch for the Century."
Rabbi Glickman lives with his wife, Caron, and their children, Shoshana, Jacob, Kyleigh, and Taylor.
Laura Cannon is the cantorial soloist at Congregation Kol Shalom. She holds an MA from UCLA in Spanish literature, and a BA from Bryn Mawr College in Romance Languages. As a lifelong musician, Laura has had vocal training in pop, classical, and jazz styles, and has performed with choirs in the Philadelphia, Los Angeles, and Seattle areas. In addition to singing, she plays the flute and guitar. Laura has been involved in synagogue life since high school, when she sang in a young cantors' program. She was a part of her local Hillel during college, and served as a substitute cantorial soloist at Beth Chayim Chadashim, in Los Angeles, where she also played in the klezmer band and sang in the choir. Laura's current interests include sephardic music, and jewish music for children. She lives on Bainbridge Island with her partner and her daughter.
